A SELT (Secure English Language Test) is an English test taken with a Home Office-approved provider to show your English level for some UK visa and settlement routes. Which skills are tested depends on the level and the approved test you choose, so check the provider's current format.
It depends on your route. A1 is commonly needed for family visa entry, A2 for further leave to remain, B1 for settlement (ILR) and British citizenship, and B2 for some work and study routes. Rules change, so confirm your level on GOV.UK before you book.
No. ELS provides independent SELT preparation only. We do not administer SELT exams, issue SELT results or give immigration advice. You book, take and pay for the official test separately with a Home Office-approved provider.
You start with a free assessment to confirm your level and target test. A CELTA-qualified tutor then teaches private lessons covering the test format, speaking and listening practice, mock practice and personalised feedback. You book the official test separately.
Fixed package prices: A1 or A2 £99 (two 60-minute private lessons), B1 £149 (three lessons) and B2 £199 (four lessons). Extra private preparation is available from £45 per hour. Official exam fees are not included.
Yes. ELS SELT preparation is available online by live video call from anywhere, and in London. The official test itself is taken at an approved test centre, so check your chosen provider's locations.

The level you need depends on your visa type. We offer preparation for commonly required CEFR levels, depending on the candidate’s immigration route and chosen approved exam.
Basic English skills. For spouse, partner or fiancé(e) visa applicants joining a partner in the UK.
Elementary English. For family visa holders extending their leave to remain in the UK.
Intermediate English. Required for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and British citizenship applications.
Upper-intermediate English. For work routes where the applicant has verified that B2 English is required.
