Haunted Memory The A2 Halloween Vocabulary Game
Start playingTry the Spelling BeeCan you find the pairs in the haunted house?
There are 16 cards. Eight cards have a Halloween word. Eight cards have a meaning. Turn over two cards. If the word and the meaning match, they stay open. If not, they turn back. Try to remember where everything is!
There are seven rounds, each with eight different words and its own theme: Halloween night, trick or treat, monsters, the haunted house, describing words, the Halloween party and spooky verbs.

Use one round per lesson in the week before Halloween, or let fast finishers work through all seven. Project the game and play in two teams. Teams take turns to choose two cards. A team that finds a pair must say the word and use it in a sentence (“There’s a bat in the garden.”) to win the point.
Follow-up: students choose four words and write a short Halloween story (40–50 words), or test a partner: “It’s a small animal with eight legs. What is it?”
