Interview English Guide

How to Prepare for a Job Interview in English

Random conversation practice is not interview preparation. Build your preparation around the actual role, your evidence and realistic interview pressure.

Start with the vacancy

Highlight the role’s repeated skills, responsibilities and outcomes. For each major requirement, prepare evidence from your experience.

Build an answer bank

Prepare concise answers for your introduction, motivation, strengths, weaknesses and career goals, plus STAR examples for leadership, conflict, pressure, mistakes and achievement.

Practise aloud under pressure

Reading answers silently creates false confidence. Record yourself, answer without notes, handle follow-up questions and complete at least one realistic mock interview.

Review language and delivery separately

First fix content and structure. Then work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, pace and filler words. Trying to fix everything simultaneously makes practice inefficient.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days should I prepare for an English interview?

Even a few focused days can help, but more time allows repeated mock practice and correction. The ELS Accelerator uses a four-week structure.

What is the best way to improve interview fluency?

Practise realistic questions aloud, receive targeted correction, then repeat the answer using a structure rather than a memorised script.

Prepare for the interview, not just the English

The Interview English Accelerator turns your CV, target role and real vacancies into focused practice.
